Ghost Mine Saloon, the food and beverage section of the Havasu Palms Resort, will return as a stop for the 2026 IJSBA PWC Fest Poker Run. The PWC Fest is a separate component of the SBT World Finals week focusing on the enthusiast section of the sport. The poker run happens on Friday October 9 and Saturday, October 11 as an unstaffed series of five stops where the participants take selfies with signs places at specific destinations and landmarks such as The Ghost Mine Saloon. Saturday evening, the London Bridge resort will host a draw party for the participants which includes free food and beverage. The after party is also a VIP viewing area for the Anderson Powersports Under The Bridge Freestyle show.
The Ghost Mine Saloon is kind of near and dear to the heart of a lot of us people who had a significant part of our PWC Racing career in the late 80s to mid 90s. During Spring Break season, we would spend a lot of time coming to Lake Havasu City to practice and get ready for the tour. After a good day of buoy racing on Saturday, if there was enough fuel left, it was a lot of fun to top off the watercraft and sprint over to the Ghost Mine Bar, as we called it then, and get these drinks called a "Green Thing." They also had these little spicy bay shrimp cocktails that were served, at the time, in like a small thin plastic cocktail tumbler glass like the sort that would be used at a budget (or perhaps better put a shotgun) wedding. If your lips pushed too hard on the cup it would crack. It was a delightful oasis of a place to visit and was just one of the many things that makes coming to Lake Havasu City so special after all of these years. A big thank you to Go Lake Havasu for helping us all gather here again.
