IJSBA has required the use of a restrictor plate as a speed control device for Junior Ski Stock classes which are the Junior Classes that allow the 2017 Kawasaki SX-R. This is a new requirement in IJSBA Racing and, as it comes late in the season, many of you have questions about this new requirement for competition.
The restrictor plate, as it might sound like, is a thin plate that restricts the airflow into the engine. The restrictor plate is installed between the throttle body and the damper. The restrictor plate reduces the volume of flow that goes into the engine.
A restrictor plate is being required to further the goal of keeping Ski classes within the traditional speeds that have been commonly experienced on a closed course track. IJSBA is starting the implementation of this objective in the Junior classes, first, in 2017.
Restrictor plates will be available for order, from IJSBA, beginning August 21. IJSBA will have 100 available for pre order and 100 available for purchase at registration at the 2017 Blowsion World Finals. At the 2017 World Finals, only the IJSBA restrictor plates will be allowed. Aftermarket producers will be allowed to make them to IJSBA specifications after World Finals.
