PARTICIPANT GUIDE
Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2004 World Finals Poker Run, presented byPersonal Watercraft Illustrated. This year's event will include a spectacular ride visiting some of the most beautiful and well-known sites on the Colorado River and Lake Havasu, the Personal Watercraft Capital of the World.
EARLY REGISTRATION
Registration for the event will be available soon. Riders can register online, by mail or at the event. Entry forms can be requested by calling PM Sports Marketing at (586) 598-2856. Entry fees paid by credit card (MasterCard, Visa and Discover) or mailed with a check or money order to:

Riders who complete their registration (with payment) prior to Friday, October 1 will receive a $10 DISCOUNT on their entry fees.

MEMBERSHIP FEES
Insurance requirements mandate that all participants are a current AWA, IJSBA or IJSBA Affiliate member. Riders who are not members may add a one-year AWA membership fee of $24 to their entry fee to participate. Passengers who are not AWA members and live at the same address as the rider are eligible for a $10 AWA Family Membership, which will be added to the entry fee.
ON-SITE REGISTRATION
Participants may also register on-site for a limited time, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9 at Rotary Beach Park.
CHECK-IN
Riders must check-in for the ride between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning atRotary Beach Park. Each rider and/or passenger will receive an official event participant credential and map of the Poker Run route upon check-in.

PARTICIPANT BENEFITS
Each participant will receive a souvenir bag with an event T-Shirt, stickers, new product brochures and other surprises. Using their event participant credential each participant will receive a BBQ dinner after the Poker Run. Participants will also have a chance at winning some great prizes and a special grand prize to be announced soon.
MANDATORY RIDERS MEETING
The mandatory riders meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the beach at Rotary Beach Park. Weather and ride conditions, information about each poker run stop, and other safety and event information will be discussed at that time by the Event Coordinator.
PWC LAUNCHING
- Rotary Beach Park DOES NOT HAVE A BOAT LAUNCH.
Riders are encouraged to launch their PWC at the Lake Havasu Marina directly across the water from Rotary Beach Park. Day use launch and parking fees are $10. The Lake Havasu Marina is located on the island, across the London Bridge, next to the Nautical Inn Resort at 1100 McCulloch Blvd., Lake Havasu City. The Marina phone number is (928) 855-2159. The Lake Havasu Marina has a launch ramp, plenty of parking, temporary docks for use while launching, fuel dock and a convenience store for any last-minute items to take along the ride.

Site Six is a public launch ramp, located across the London Bridge and next to the Beachcomber Resort at the end of the island. Launching and parking are free. Parking is limited. See map page for location of both launching facilities.

Riders must launch their PWC and be prepared to ride prior to the start of the mandatory riders meeting at 10:30 a.m.
PWC RENTALS
Watercraft can be rented from IJSBA World Champion Jeff Prieur's Champion Rentals. Champion Rentals is offering customized service for World Finals Poker Run participants. They can be reached phone at (928) 855-8088 or send an e-mail tochampionrental@redrivernet.com .
POKER RUN
The 2004 World Finals Poker Run is a game of five-card stud with a card dealt to each player for making each designated stop on the Poker Run route. The Poker Run route is as follows (maps will be provided to each rider with their credential):
- Start Rotary - Beach Park
- Stop 1 - The Sandbar
- Stop 2 - Havasu Landing
- Stop 3 - Copper Canyon
- Stop 4 - Havasu Palms Resort
- Stop 5 - Rotary Beach Park
Each RIDER will receive a RIDER credential and will be entered into the Poker Run. Passenger credentials are for passengers only. Only RIDERS will receive a poker hand.
At each stop, the RIDER’s credential will be hole-punched to indicate the rider has visited the stop. At the end of the ride, when the RIDER returns to Rotary Beach Park, each RIDER will check in with event officials and show their completed credential with each of the stops hole-punched. The rider will then draw five cards for a complete poker hand.
The RIDER with the best poker hand will win the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize will be announced soon. Runners-up will win other prizes courtesy of several supporting sponsors including Slippery, Personal Watercraft Illustrated, IJSBA, the American Watercraft Association (AWA) and others to be announced soon.
Poker hands will be ranked in the following order:
- Royal Flush
- Straight Flush
- Four of a Kind
- Full House
- Flush
- Straight
- Three of a Kind
- Two Pairs
- Pair
EQUIPMENT
Each event participant, rider and passenger, is required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PFD) while operating or riding on a PWC during the 2004 World Finals Poker Run. Additionally, each PWC must have on board the following safety equipment:
- Properly functioning fire extinguisher
- Whistle, horn or other distress signaling device
- Properly affixed and current state registration numbers
Additionally, riders may also wish to carry or wear the following on-board with them during the poker run for additional safety and/or comfort:
- Cell phone
- GPS (coordinates for each stop will be provided)
- Tow rope/dock line (stops 2 & 4 are marinas with fuel docks)
- Anchor/Anchor bag
- Bottled water (alcoholic beverages prohibited)
- Towel (s)
- Camera
- Wetsuit, Booties, Gloves
- Sunglasses or Goggles
- Sunscreen
BBQ
A complete meal will be catered at Rotary Beach Park following the Poker Run. Each event participant will receive lunch and non-alcoholic drinks. Rider or passenger credential must be presented to receive BBQ meal. Non-poker run participants may purchase a meal separately for $20.
PRIZES
Participants will compete for a cash grand prize as well as lots of other prizes like a Polaris Scooter, Wakeboards, wetsuits, and other great prizes. All event participants will also be provided with raffle tickets for a prize drawing during the BBQ. Participants must be present to win the raffle prizes. Please stick around – it’s a safe bet your number will be called!
