IJSBA has received the following bulletin regarding the July 25-26 event in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
July 28, 2021. Sulphur Springs, Texas rolled out the red carpet for the Jettribe Texas Championship on July 25th and 26th, and was thrilled with 2 days of amateur and professional racing. Over 100 athletes came from as far as California, New Mexico, and Florida to compete for the title as the fastest watercraft pilots in the Lone Star State. Gulf Coast racers were among those who made the made the journey, and they came home with top honors in their classes.
Junior Phenom Gary Holbein, Jr, of Fairhope, Alabama, dominated the Junior 4 stroke ski class with a first place victory. Piloting the newest watercraft in the industry, the 2021 Yamaha Superjet, Holbein's execution was flawless, pulling multiple hole shots and wire-to-wire finishes. Holbein, who is sponsored by Jet Blast, is a 12 year old 7th grader who has only been racing two years, but is already a regular on winner's podiums across the country.
Gary practices and trains with Junior Stars of Florida, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children to be safe PWC users and dedicated stewards of our waterways.
Pro SKi GP, the most competitive class on the national and international level, was a one man show with Biloxi's Jules Hopkins dispatching all challengers in the class with ease. Hopkins, piloting the #85 Kommander GP1, is sponsored by Performance Jetski & Cycle of D'Iberville, MS.
