Awesome Acapulco Will host PWC and Powerboat Races. February 25-26, 2017.
Glamorous Acapulco will host the first round of Mexico´s National Personal Watercraft and Poweboat Circuit on February 25 and 26: Copa Internacional de Motonáutica Acapulco 2017 (2017 Acapulco International Powerboat Cup). The event is organized by ISJBA International Affiliate Motonáutica México (www.motonauticamexico.com), Mexico´s largest and most important boating association and with the support of FIDETUR, local sponsors and the State of Guerrero´s Tourism Board.
The site will be at beautiful Pie de la Cuesta, a beach resort town located at approximately 5 miles from Acapulco´s Golden Zone on Coyuca Lagoon, where boats will be able to achieve top speeds due to the lagoon´s calm brackish water and sea-level altitude.
Personal Watercraft races will take place mostly on Saturday with the final motos for the F1 Class as an opener for Sunday´s ModVP type, Unlimited Outboards, and Jetboat races. Most of Mexico´s 2016 champions have already signed-up, as well as guest drivers from Colombia, Peru and the United States.
Although Acapulco´s reputation has been tarnished by negative media for a few years, it is a fact that it is a safe and fun city for national and international travelers. Several hotels will offer special deals for tourists who will attend this exciting event making it a great opportunity to visit this glitzy city where the temperature should be right around 86 degrees Fahrenheit in late February.
Motonautica Mexico is offering a “free seat” for an American or Canadian driver interested in racing in Mexico. This includes hotel accommodations, no entry fee, a competitive ModVP boat OR PWC, fuel, crew and a few other perks. For more information please contact charles@motonauticamexico.com. References from American drivers are available upon request.
