The IJSBA is saddened to announce that Daryl John Funk, 53, died Wed., Nov. 2, 2005 at his Topeka home. He was born Dec. 18, 1951 in Topeka the son of John Hartford and Shirley Ann (Sharp) Funk. His mother preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1992.
Daryl graduated from Topeka West High School. He was employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.s Topeka plant. He was a member of Rubber Workers Local # 307; played in the Kitchen Crew Band with his high school friends; and was a member of various jet skiing associations. Daryl was ranked # 1 in the Masters Division in National Jet Skiing. He was married to Pamela K. ODell on Oct. 3, 1970. She survives of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 daughters: Shannon Dugger of Topeka, Chesalai Raby of Phoenix, AZ, and Amanda Funk of Topeka; his father and step-mother: John H. and Enola Funk of Topeka; 2 step-sisters; 1 step-brother; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Mon., Nov. 7, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabels Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Funk will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
