The AWA Capital Area PWC Club will be jamming on the “DC Freedom Ride” June 18, 2005. This rain-or-shine inaugural event is a pure cruise for freedom, and a fantastic opportunity for the Washington metro area to get together and ride up to downtown. Along with doing a photo shoot for Ride PWC Magazine in front of the monuments, we’ll be eatin’ well with a free catered lunch from Tim’s Rivershore, a Potomac River institution.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. on the beach in front of Shelter 3 at Leesylvania State Park (www.dcr.state.va.us/parks/leesylva.htm) on the Virginia shore. Just look for the AWA banner! The riders’ meeting (mandatory for all participants) is at 10, and the run starts at 10:15 sharp. Then it’s upriver with a stop in front of Mt. Vernon for a photo shoot, and then downtown!

We’ll do a show of force photo, and then cruise back for the free lunch, courtesy of Yamaha at Leesylvania. Maryland riders can launch from their own ramps, but you must register and attend the riders’ meeting at the beach.

This event is sponsored by the AWA in conjunction with the Capitol Area PWC Club and Yamaha. The registration fee is $10. This tiny fee helps the AWA cover the cost of park entry and launch fees, and will free up funds so the AWA can fight the no access crowd. So, you get to ride: Be in a photo shoot: Score a fantastic goody bag: Pull a chance at some great door prizes, and finish it off with some good grub … all for only 10 bucks!
