June gloom enveloped Lake Perris State Park but despite the cold and cloudy weather Rounds 5 & 6 of the Jettribe "Best of the West" series went on with great success. Racers from all over Southern California, Northern California, Washington, Colorado, Arizona & Nevada came out to support their closed course series.

17 classes and freestyle went off as scheduled and with first snap of the band it was "game on"! The Jr. classes showed the future of the sport as the 10-12 Stock class saw a great battle all weekend between Stevie Bascom, #365, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Jack Briscoe, #76 Salt Lake City, UT & Alyssa Musselman #777 Lake Havasu City, AZ with Tallon Chambers, #831 Livermore, CA & Revin Harris #100 from Gilbert, AZ battling for the top spot both rounds. In the end a mere 4 points separate Chambers from Harris in the high points battle.

In the 13-15 Lites class it was Kole Cramer #202 Lake Havasu City, AZ who dominated and won all four moto's over the two rounds of racing. Preston Matzdorf, #242 also from Lake Havasu City, AZ and Tyler shinko #418 Thousand Oaks, CA rounded out the podium. Kramer went on to win in the Amateur Ski Mod Class on Saturday over Mateo Juarez, #10 Las Vegas, NV and Jonathan Phan #255 Laguna Niguel, CA.

Sunday it was Mateo's turn to take the top spot winning the Amateur Ski Mod class while Cramer ended up in the 2nd spot and Jeremiah Marino, #9 Lakeside, CA finished in 3rd. Cramer still holds the overall points lead by 24 points over Juarez. In the Vintage 550 class, Wyland Reden, #2 Fallbrook, CA continued to dominate going wire to wire winning his moto's in both rounds. Wyland sits with a comfortable lead of over 100 points for the high points championship. Tommy "The Bomber" Bonacci, #201 Costa Mesa, CA too the overall in both Sport Spec, Blaster Spec and Blaster Open Spec on Saturday.

Tony Martinez, #10 Chino, CA took the win on Sunday in Sport Spec, Hunter Dunn, #99 Huntington Beach, CA beat out Todd "Sarge" Young for win in Blaster Spec with Annie Sims, #111 Lake Elsinore, CA in 3rd. Brandon Briscoe, #27 Salt Lake City, UT won the Blaster Open Spec class. Shawn Quemada #169 Diamond Bar, CA took Saturday win in the Sport GP while Redding, CA resident Denny Janeway #110 took the Gold on Sunday.

In the Women's Ski Limited class, sisters Lauren and Meg Conroy, #72 & 913, Cave Creek, AZ battled each other and Jodie Evans, #28 Sparks, NV for the win with Lauren on top both days. Not satisfied with her in in the Women's Ski Ltd. Class Lauren Conroy also took Saturday's win in the Novice Ski Ltd. Class over JB Gasperone, #91 Flagstaff, AZ & Trisha Juarez. Juarez, #10 Las Vegas NV would go on to win Round #6 with Gasperone in 2nd and Conroy in 3rd. Lauren sits currently in the 2nd spot while Sister Meg enjoys a 45 point advantage for the series points lead.

Always exciting Novice Ski Stock saw Caleb Kile #26 Bishop, CA squeak out a win on Saturday over Matt Rollings #812 Sparks, NV with resident Runabout turned Stand up racer Charlie Martinez, #9 Buena Park, CA in 3rd.

Sunday Kile once again dominated the competition with Tyler Shinko #418 Thousand Oaks finishing 2nd and current Best of the West points leader Kyle Hawse #20 Las Vegas, NV in 3rd.

In the Vets class it was Prowatercraft's Chris Hagest #220 Lake Havasu City taking the overall for both rounds with Tony Beck #37 Lake Havasu City, AZ in 2nd & Chuck Evan's #45 Sparks, NV in 3rd for both rounds. Mark Conroy, #525 Cave Creek, AZ was able to grab 2nd in the class for Sunday.

In the Masters Ski Stock it was "Sarge" Todd Young #501 San Diego, CA taking the top spot over Charles Anderson #55 Lake Havasu City, AZ and Glenn Powell #621 Colorado Springs, CO, in Round 6 it was Anderson who would take the overall with Sarge right behind him and Powell in the bronze spot. Masters Ski Mod saw Matt Legerski #62 Flagstaff, AZ taking home the overall weekend win for Rounds 5 & 6 with Tony Beck and Mark Conroy rounding out the podium on Saturday and after a 13 year absence Mike "The Scorcher' Scornaienchi, #212 Fircrest, WA jumped right back on the podium scoring a 2nd place in Sunday's Round # 6 with Tony Beck in the 3rd spot.

Vintage X2 Stock saw a battle with Matt Goldberg #113 Lake Elsinore, CA edging out Derek Stout #100 San Marcos, CA & Charles Sims, # 109 Lake Elsinore, CA on Saturday while Chris Heinrich #7 Corona, CA took the win for Sunday with Goldberg and Sims in 2nd & 3rd. In the X2 Open class it was Dan Ortega, #121X Chula Vista, CA taking the win over Charles Sims and Derek Stout but Sims would rally and take Sunday's win with Ortega finishing up in 2nd and Stout in 3rd.

Two runabout classes saw great competition with Jonathan Rivera #282 Indio, CA taking 3 of 4 moto wins in the Runabout Naturally Aspirated class over Daniel Yonan on the 451from Corona, CA on Saturday and Tony Beck on the 188 on Sunday, 3rd went to Jason Schriner #8 Riverside, CA for Saturday and Bill Wilson #771 Palm Springs, CA on Sunday. Pro Freestyle saw two up and coming legends of the sport with current IJSBA Amateur World Champion turned Pro - Tanner "The Tanman" Thomas, Ketchikan, AK narrowly edging current IFWA World Champion Mark "Gomer" Gomez, Fullerton, CA. Michael DeMauro, Rancho Cucamonga put on a great old school display in the Amateur Freestyle class.
