The first official press release has been received for the 2015 IJSBA California State Championships as well as the Northern California/Southern California shootout against DJSA.  Please see their release below:

Mossdale Lakes - Lathrop, CA To Host The 2015 Northern California / Southern California State Personal Watercraft Championships, August 22-23, 2015

The 2015 Northern California vs Southern California State Personal Watercraft (PWC) Championship will be held at Mossdale Lakes in Lathrop, Ca on August 22nd - 23rd, 2015.  The weekend event will showcase the best PWC racers on the west coast, with DJSA Outlaw Racing of Northern California, taking on Southern California’s RPM Racing Enterprise sanctioned by the IJSBA.

Similar to motocross on the water, the weekend’s events will consist of high speed, buoy action racing of personal watercraft (Jetskis). PWC Racers from the western states will be competing on a closed race course to determine the best racers in California. Numerous classes of both standup and sitdown jetskis will be racing; with some obtaining speeds of up to 80mph on the course.  This will be the third interstate event held over the past 10 years, that will pit Northern California and Southern California racers against each other on a very challenging and technical race course. Northern California currently holds the five foot tall Interstate trophy, after narrowly outscoring Southern California at the two previous “shootout races” held at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Marine World) in Vallejo, and at Salt Springs Valley Reservoir in Copperopolis. Fast action, incredible racing, and spectacular “freestyle” events are planned for the weekend. The freestyle event is always a crowd favorite, where amateur and pro freestyle competitors perform incredible jumps, tricks and backflips. Racing during the day on Saturday will serve as qualifiers for the first ever “Shootout at Night”, to be held under the lights on Saturday evening.

Jim Lambert, DJSA Race Director quotes: “Northern California has held the 5ft tall Shootout Trophy for several years. This year’s NorCal vs SoCal Shootout will definitely be challenging, but in our favor, we do have the home court advantage and our racers have had more night racing experience than the Southern California racers have had. This will be the first ever shootout held under the lights at night, so it will be very interesting to see how the night plays out. There is a large contingency of Southern California racers coming up for this race who have vowed they aren’t leaving without this giant trophy - so I guess it comes down to being a case of “who wants it more”. Regardless of where they finish, the real winners will be all the racers and fans who get to take part in this large scale race event, that will definitely be making history in the jet ski racing world.”

Closed course buoy racing is handle bar-to-handle bar competition putting rider and machine in one of the most exciting forms of racing. Reaching top speeds of more than 80 mph; closed course racing features a buoy-marked, ½- to ¾- mile track that is designed to keep the competition tight and fans close to the action. The start of the racing begins with up to 20 boats on the start line, and all accelerating to the first turn.  Each racer’s skill, strength, and stamina are challenged as they race against others in their class. All events for this weekend will be available to watch in real time on the Web via “Livestream,” at  http://www.DJSARacing.com.

Saturday’s race will be presented by RPM Racing Enterprises, sanctioned by the IJSBA (International Jet Sport Boat Association). It will be a qualifier for the IJSBA World Finals in October. The night race “under the lights” will be the long overdue grudge match between the North and the South and will also be recognized as an IJSBA sanctioned special event. Sunday’s race will be sanctioned by DJSA Racing, and will be a regular point series race for the DJSA 2015 season.

Mossdale Lakes is located approximately 45 minutes east of the San Francisco Bay Area near the junction of  California Interstate 205 and I5 near Lathrop & Tracy, CA.

The event coordinators will be holding a media day on Friday, August 21st from 12pm - 4pm to answer any questions about the event.  Both the Northern California & Southern California race promoters will be in attendance as well as the racers most of whom will be accessible for interviews and video/photo opportunities.

The event will be located at 800 Mossdale Rd Lathrop, CA 95330 across from Del Osso Farms on the east side of Interstate 5. From the I5 South, exit Manthey Rd. Cross Under the freeway and the grounds are immediately in front of you.  From the I5 North, exit on Mossdale Rd. Bear right off the exit and the grounds will be on your left. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the representatives listed on the attached Press Release.
