IJSBA is pleased to announce two new Competition Classes for 2014:
1. Rec Lites
Rec Lites is a Runabout class intended to promote affordable racing for both newer economy models and popular economy models from the sport’s earlier days. Runabout Rec Lites shall adhere to IJSBA Stock Class Rules and shall allow runabouts with the displacements of up to 735cc for those units equipped with Two Stroke engines and 950cc for those units equipped with Four Stroke Engines.
2. 1000 Superstock
1000 Superstock is a Runabout Class intended to replace the current Runabout 800 Superstock class by making it inclusive with similarly priced modern units. Runabout 1000 Superstock shall adhere to the Superstock Addendum of IJSBA’s Open Class Rules. Runabouts equipped with two stroke engines shall be allowed a maximum displacement of 800cc. Runabouts with four stroke engines shall be allowed a maximum displacement of 1000cc. Only watercraft originally homologated in these displacement ranges are eligible for the Runabout 1000cc Superstock classes.
To summarize Runabout 1000 Superstock: 800 Superstock rules remain the same for two stroke runabout. Four Stroke Runabouts, OEM equipped with an engine under 1000cc may participate and shall be allowed. Superstock allows all Open Class provisions with the exception of aftermarket hulls/top decks and aftermarket cylinders; four stroke powered units may add forced induction.
UPDATED: IJSBA has received inquiries as to whether promoters must offer Rec Lites and 1000 Superstock as combined classes. The answer to this question is: NO. Promoters may organize these classes as Four Stroke only versions of these classes at their own discretion.
