Great Lakes Watercross proudly hosted the inaugural Harbor Beach Cup in Harbor Beach, Michigan, a thrilling event that also featured the 1100 Triple Crown organized by Todd Czarcinski. This event, held in the picturesque Thumb of Michigan, saw over 100 racers, along with their teams and families, gather for an exhilarating weekend of competition.
The event was a remarkable success, with classes packed and competition fierce. Racers enjoyed perfect Midwest weather, basking in sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s. The race course, one of the largest seen in U.S. closed course racing so far, offered numerous passing opportunities, providing an exciting challenge for all participants. Feedback from racers was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the track and the scenic race site.
In addition to the excitement of the races, the event also served as a reunion for several U.S. and Canadian racers who previously competed in the coveted Can/Am Cup race. The Harbor Beach Cup attracted attendees from all over the country, with particularly strong representation from regions 6 and 8, highlighting the widespread appeal and community spirit of this event.
The city of Harbor Beach, as the presenting sponsor, warmly welcomed all attendees, showcasing true Midwestern hospitality. The weekend saw a complete sell-out of camping spots, with many attendees camping right at the race site along the beautiful beach. The influx of visitors also had a significant economic impact on the city, with all nearby hotels, motels, and Airbnbs fully booked. Racers and their families contributed greatly to the local economy, spending generously at local businesses and attractions.
Given the success of this year's event, we are optimistic about returning in 2025 for the second annual Harbor Beach Cup. The support from the city and the enthusiasm of the community were instrumental in making this event a triumph. We believe that continuing this partnership would be a valuable investment for Harbor Beach, fostering economic growth and community engagement.
