The Great Lakes Watercross has been huge this year.  What a great turnout from the round in Racine this past August 10 and 11.  Please see their official recap and results below:

This past weekend, August 10th and 11th, the Great Lakes Watercross tour took to the stunning shores of Lake Michigan at North Beach Park in Racine, Wisconsin. Known for its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, North Beach Park is one of the Midwest's most picturesque locations. Thanks to the support of Visit Racine County, the tour made its much-anticipated stop at this racer and fan-favorite destination, drawing participants from across the Midwest to compete in an unforgettable race weekend.

North Beach Park, recognized for its expansive shoreline and vibrant community atmosphere, offered the perfect backdrop for watercross event. Lake Michigan, with its unpredictable conditions, challenged racers with its WNW winds, providing small rollers that were deceptively rough and led to some thrilling racing moments.

The Ski Lites classes saw an impressive lineup with 12 competitors, including two world champions and several promising novice racers. The competition was fierce, with Jack Eidt from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Emerson King from La Crosse, Wisconsin,  engaging in a heated battle. Jack emerged victorious in the Novice Ski Lites on Saturday after securing a win in the second moto of the day. The Pro Ski Lites class featured a thrilling showdown between two 2023 world champions, Dustin Voss and Jeff Hansen. Dustin clinched the overall win on Saturday, while Jeff took the top spot on Sunday, delivering a weekend of captivating racing for spectators.

The Amateur Rec Lites class was another highlight, showcasing a fierce contest between Maddie Elders and Ryan Rasmussen. Maddie, one of the Midwest's rising stars in runabout racing, claimed the overall victory on Saturday by winning the second moto. Competing in three classes a day, Maddie is well on her way to becoming a world champion in 2024.

The races were fast-paced and highly competitive, but the camaraderie and sportsmanship off the water truly set this event apart. The supportive community of racers lent a helping hand to one another, assisting with getting watercrafts to the beach and holding them steady in the water. The spirit of unity and support exemplifies the family-like atmosphere of the Great Lakes Watercross tour, making each event feel like a homecoming.

Blessed with beautiful weather throughout the weekend, Sunday offered perfect conditions, allowing spectators to fully enjoy the racing action. The warm reception and enthusiastic participation have already led to an invitation to return in 2025, promising an even more exciting year ahead in Racine.
