The Detroit International Riverfront becomes a stage when Typhoon Tommy brings the IJSBA sanctioned Detroit River Freestyle Championships on Friday, June 19th through Sunday, June 21nd, 2015. The Detroit River Days is a celebration of Detroit’s RiverWalk with activities on land and water, plus great live music by 50 bands on 3 stages live music — headlined by Bad Company, Gladys Knight, Bell Biv Devoe and many others.
The Detroit River Freestyle Championships is part of a four stop IJSBA Freestyle tour and features freestyle action on the crystal clear Detroit River in front of huge crowds and media. Freestyle classes offered will be pro, amateur and novice and will have additional championships such as water jet flying, big air, deep sub and freeride awards. There will be plenty of open freeriding and practice times throughout the day. Freestyle riders need to contact Typhoon Tommy Nuttall at tommy@jetskishows.com, as parking is limited and special permit is required.
The GM River Days events include a 50-ton sand sculpture, kids’ activities, River walk buskers, Bike Night, the Detroit River ArtScape art competition, tall ships, Coast Guard Cutter and many other events. The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy began the GM River Days festival in June 2007 to introduce the community and visitors to the transformed Detroit International Riverfront. The festival marked the opening of significant portions of the new Detroit RiverWalk and the festival has continued each year to spotlight our magnificent resources and this new destination in the city of Detroit.
