IJSBA is pleased to share the report from East Coast Watercross Rounds 5 & 6 as well as results and points below:
East Coast Watercross raced rounds 5 and 6 of the 2024 SBT East Coast Watercross Tour this past weekend at the Plattsburgh City Beach in beautiful Plattsburgh NY. We had incredible weather on Saturday and the race day progressed with zero issues, we followed our day of racing with an awards ceremony overlooking the landscape of the lake and mountains behind our podium and backdrop. Sunday we had great weather up until about an hour after our first half and lunch break concluded, we were able to get two motos completed before we had to stop due to lightning in the area. We evacuated the beach for about an hour and half as we carefully watched the skies and as soon as we had a 30 minute window to thunder and lighting we got back to racing. It was looking promising for about 20 minutes into racing and then another cell rolled over us and had heavy lightning and thunder so we called it quits around 2:30 in the afternoon and sent everyone home.
We had three new members sign up, two of which paid by check which is going out in the mail to you today. With insurance payments for rounds 3/4 and 5/6 to bring us up to current with the IJSBA for insurance.
Total numbers we had 77 and 68 entries, low numbers that were disappointing but the weather was looking like thunderstorms all weekend throughout the week prior so Im thinking that held people back from making the long drive to northern NY. Watkins Glen should be back up over 100 entries hopefully!
