Sea-Doo Great Lakes PWC Rally Series Kicks Off in New Baltimore, Michigan.

PM Sports Marketing, together with the American Watercraft Association (AWA) is proud to present the 2006 Sea-Doo Great Lakes PWC Rally Series.  The Great Lakes PWC Rally Series consists of three fun one-day events filled with personal watercraft recreational events and activities.  There will be many events for watercraft enthusiasts to enjoy including PWC Poker Runs, Buoy Course and other family oriented events.

The first event of the AWA Great Lakes PWC Rally Series is the 2nd Annual Anchor Bay Poker Run and will take place on Sunday June 18 in New Baltimore, Michigan.  The event takes place at Burke Park in downtown New Baltimore located in the Metropolitan Detroit area.

The 2006 AWA Great Lakes Rally Series are perfect events for the whole family or single watercraft enthusiasts looking to meet some new friends that also love PWC riding.  Everybody will have fun on the Great Lakes PWC Rally Series events.  With a reasonable entry fee (only $25), each participant will be eligible to take part in a Poker Run or the Invitational where you can win some great prizes.

The final two events of the Great Lakes PWC Rally Series will take place on July 14 for the Invitational Buoy course event (by invitation only - there are already more than 150 people signed up) in Harbor Beach, Michigan and Saturday July 29 at the Celina Lake Festival Poker Run.

Anchor Bay PWC Poker Run on Lake St. Clair

  • WHAT: Personal Watercraft and Jetboat Poker Run.
  • WHERE: The Poker Run starts and ends from Burke Park in Downtown New Baltimore.
  • WHEN: Poker Run – Sunday, June 18 – Registration 10:00-11:30am. Poker Run noon – 4:00 pm.

The Anchor Bay PWC Poker Run on Lake St. Clair is fun and exciting event for PWC owners to participate in.  Sanctioned by the American Watercraft Association, the Anchor Bay Poker Run is a game of 5-card stud with a card dealt to each player for making each designated stop on the poker run route.

The poker run route will visit 4 stops on Lake St. Clair with the 5th and final stop Burke Park in New Baltimore (Burke Park is also the starting point).  Riders will show proof that they visited the Poker Run stops by collecting free trinkets at each stop.  Once they show proof, the rider will then be dealt 5 cards for a complete poker hand at Burke Park.

The Rider with the best poker hand will win a special Grand Prize consisting of more than $500 in PWC parts, accessories, and certificates and runners-up will win other prizes courtesy of event sponsors.  The Poker Run is approximately 30 miles long and riders will have 4 hours to complete it.  It will start at noon and all participants will need to be back by 4:00 pm.  Open to PWC and Jetboats.

The Anchor Bay Poker Run is a perfect event for the whole family to enjoy or single watercraft enthusiasts looking to meet some new friends that also love PWC riding.  Everybody will have fun on the Anchor Bay Poker Run.  Entry fee to the Poker Run is $25.

AWA Membership
The event is sanctioned by the American Watercraft Association (AWA).  All participants jmust be an AWA member to participate.  Participants can join for $24 for a one-year membership or $10 for a single event membership (no card or magazine).  For more information on the AWA visit - www.AWAHQ.org.  Each additional family member can join AWA as a “family member” for $10 if there is a full member in the household.

Event Registration
Participants can register on-site between 10:00 am and 11:30 am at Burke Park.

Launching Watercraft
Participants can launch at Brandenburg Park in Chesterfield, located on Jefferson just south of 23 Mile Road, or the Fair Haven D.N.R. access site and boat launch at M-29 (23 Mile Rd) at Palms Road.  Brandenburg Park is a few miles south of Burke Park and the Fair Haven D.N. R. access site is a few miles North of Burke Park.  Participants are to meet at Burke Park between 10:00 am - and 11:30 am at Burke Park to Check-In and Register and be at the park at 11:30 am for the drivers meeting. Park is easy to find - look for the big water tower.  Please bring watercraft to the right (west) side of the pier on Sunday for staging of the Poker Run.

Equipment
Each event participant, rider and passenger, is required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PFD) while operating or riding on a PWC during the Poker Run. Additionally, each PWC should have on board the following safety equipment: Properly functioning fire extinguisher, whistle, horn or other distress signaling device and current state registration.  Neoprene (wetsuit) and eyewear is highly suggested.
