The IJSBA is pleased to sanction the 2006 SCE Charity PWC Race at Lake Isabella.

Kern Valley Employee’s 11th annual Charity Fundraiser Personal Watercraft (PWC) race will be held on July 29th and 30th this year. This event is made possible by a generous grant from Kawasaki Motor Corporation.  Kawasaki, known for their Jet-Ski line of watercraft, is a well established leader in social responsibility both on and off the water.  Sponsoring this event is part of Kawasaki’s continuing commitment to promote a safe and positive environment for families to enjoy the longest running line of PWC.

This event is being supported by the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA).  The IJSBA will assist in course logistics in order to help grow this endeavor into a premiere charity event. All participants of the SCE Charity Race will be eligible to participate in the slalom portion of the IJSBA’s annual World Championships in October. The American Watercraft Association (AWA), the grass roots coalition which promotes fair and responsible use of the waterways, will also be represented at the event.

Saturday’s events include head to head racing on an IJSBA designed closed course, an individually ran and a timed IJSBA Slalom course, the Kawasaki Fun Run for adults…best card hand wins, and a free treasure hunt for the kids. Sunday’s event is our Fun Day….You have the business challenges – one business challenges another to a race, it can be head to head or individually timed on the closed course, or you can run the slalom course, the loser pays the bet to our race kitty. Individuals can challenge each other on either course, and there are other fun events as time permits.

Saturday’s events runs until all races are completed and trophies presented, Sunday’s events conclude at noon.  The IJSBA will be offering prizes to participants as well as special gifts to donors for the business challenge.  Kern County Search and Rescue will be there to serve food, along with other local non-profits groups serving other goodies. Whitman dance studio will be serving snow cones, while the High School sophomore class will be serving hot dogs. All profits go to Kern County Search and Rescue, Meals on Wheels, and High School Scholarships.

This year’s event has something everyone….if you want to race against other riders – then sign up for the closed course, if you would prefer to race against the clock and compare your time to other’s in your class, then register for the slalom course, just you and the course – you can sign up and race this course as many times as you want to improve your time. There is also the Fun Run for the adults, sign up and then go to five locations on the lake and pick up your playing cards, in the afternoon everyone compares their hand and best one wins the pot.

The Kid’s Treasure Hunt is basically the same as the Adult Fun Run, in fact they can be done at the same time, the adult’s pick up their cards, while the kids have their card punched showing they went to all locations, their card is placed in a barrel, one is picked out and wins the $100.00 treasure. Event T-shirts will be for sale.
